About NSC9 News
Note from the Founding Editors
Instead of following traditional models of family-owned, corporately-funded, or advertisement-driven newspapers, websites, and TV channels, NSC9 News envisions media as a joint venture between journalists, readers, and a conscious citizenry. We believe editorial decisions—such as what to cover, how to cover it, and whom to assign—should be made solely based on professional journalistic judgment, free from influence by proprietors, politicians, officials, or advertisers.
In a democracy, this independence is the least readers and viewers deserve. Yet, the prevailing business models in Indian media rarely allow such editorial freedom. Even worse, they have steadily compromised journalistic integrity, resulting in damaging practices like excessive editorializing, paid news, and “private treaties.” Many media houses have cut back significantly on news-gathering expenses, and their growing secondary business interests have created “no-go areas” that further restrict journalistic work—especially when those interests depend on proximity to political or bureaucratic power. It is no surprise, then, that audiences are increasingly noticing the decline in standards, ethics, and credibility. They feel misled and disappointed.
At NSC9 News, we are founded on a simple yet powerful idea: good journalism can only survive when it is both editorially and financially independent. This means we rely on support from readers and well-meaning citizens who seek to preserve a space for honest, in-depth journalism.
Our commitment is firmly rooted in the public interest and democratic values. Alongside strong analysis and commentary, our goal is to grow into a platform built on rigorous, ground-level reporting that focuses on issues of national and international importance. As a digital-first platform, we embrace new storytelling formats—utilizing data, video, audio, and interactive visuals where needed—to make our journalism more engaging and accessible.
We begin our journey with limited resources, but our vision remains ambitious and clear. Until we reach our full potential, we ask you for just one thing: read us, share our work, follow us on social platforms, and send us your valuable feedback.
